Teston Gilpatrick was born in Livingston, TN, on May 31st, 1946 and was baptized July 9th, 1961. He began preaching on May 27th, 1962. Teston married Josephine Willis on June 5th, 1964 and they have two children; Melissa Jane and Teston Dewayne.

Teston attended Freed-Hardeman College, receiving the Associate of Arts Degree in 1966. He then went to Oklahoma Christian College, where he graduated with the Bachelor of Arts Degree. His Master of Arts Degree was achieved at Abilene Christian University.

After preaching for several congregations of the Church of Christ here in the United States, he and his family moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1972 to serve as missionaries, being sponsored by the College Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK. His main interest there was in publishing books in the Portuguese language and serving as editor of Inside Brazil. In 1977 he was appointed the director of the Sao Paulo Leadership Training School.

After returning to the States, Teston was hired by the Fairview Church of Christ in Cookeville, TN, to serve as pulpit minister in 2010.
